"Bows" are the curved frame ribs that hold the canvas up. More bows mean a longer top front-to-back, so more shade across the length of your boat — the choice comes down to your boat's length and how much of the cockpit you want covered.

As a rule of thumb: 2 bow suits small fishing boats and tenders, 3 bow is the most popular all-rounder for runabouts and bowriders, and 4 bow gives maximum coverage for larger boats and pontoons. Your mounting width (the distance across your boat at the rails) then sets the size — measure it and match the chart below.

Bimini tops are sized by three measurements. Take all three, match your mounting width to the chart to find your size, and double-check every measurement before ordering.

Mounting Width (A)

The distance across your boat at the installation point (rail to rail). This is the primary measurement that determines your size.

The width of the actual boot cover — how long the folded-down top sits along the gunwale.

Boot Circumference (C)

The distance around the middle of the closed (folded) bimini top — confirms the storage boot fits the bundled canvas.

How do I measure my boat for a bimini top?

Take three measurements: (A) Mounting Width — the distance across your boat at the installation point; (B) Boot Length — the width of the boot cover; and (C) Boot Circumference — the distance around the middle of the closed top.

Mounting width (A) is the one that sets your size — match it to the size chart (Size 1 at 54"–60" up to Size 8 at 97"–103", plus a Size 9 pontoon square frame). Always double-check all measurements before ordering.

Should I get a 2, 3, or 4 bow bimini top?

The bow count sets how long the top is front-to-back — more bows means more shade along the boat:

  • 2 Bow: compact shade for small fishing boats and tenders.
  • 3 Bow: the most popular all-rounder for runabouts and bowriders.
  • 4 Bow: maximum coverage for larger boats and pontoons.

Pick the bow count by your boat's length, then size it by your mounting width.

What's the difference between a full set and replacement canvas?

A full set includes everything: the 600D canvas, the aluminum frame, all mounting hardware, a storage boot, and an installation kit — buy this if you don't already have a bimini.

Replacement canvas is just the fabric (plus a free storage boot), made to slide onto your existing frame. Choose it when your frame is still good but the old canvas is faded or torn. Frame, hardware, and rear poles are not included with replacement canvas.

Will the replacement canvas fit my existing frame?

SolaquaShield™ replacement canvas has zippered sleeves that fit 1" to 1¼" round or square tube frames, and is sold by bow count (2, 3, or 4 bow). Match the canvas to the same bow count and size as your current frame.

Measure your mounting width and confirm your tube diameter before ordering. If you're unsure, call us and we'll help you match it.

Replacement canvas also comes with a free matching storage boot, but not the frame or hardware.

Can I put a bimini top on my pontoon?

Yes — pontoons with a square frame use Size 9 (Pontoon Square Frame), which fits a 96"–103" mounting width with a 112" boot length and 27" circumference. A 4 bow configuration gives the most coverage on a larger pontoon deck.

What is the storage boot for, and will it fit my top?

The storage boot wraps the folded-down top to protect the canvas from sun, rain, and grime between outings. It's made of UV-treated 600D marine canvas with a full-length zipper and a cut-out opening for your stern light.

The standalone boot fits standard 3 and 4 bow tops on round or square tube frames, comes in nine colors, and offers a range of sizes for a proper fit.

Is the bimini top easy to install and fold down?

Yes. Mounting hardware comes pre-installed, and full sets include an installation kit, so setup is straightforward. Once mounted, the frame collapses or pulls back when you don't need shade and raises again in seconds for sudden sun or weather.
